Jason Meeks is a career diplomat with over twenty years’ experience.  A member of the Senior Foreign Service, Mr. Meeks joined U.S. Embassy Kathmandu as the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) in November 2022, having previously served as Political Chief 2009-2012. Mr. Meeks’ previous assignments include Turkey, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Taiwan, and Nepal. At the Department of State in Washington, D.C., he served as Chief of Staff to the Director General of the Foreign Service and Director of Global Talent Management, in the U.S. Department of States’ Operations Center, and most recently, as the Office Director for Africa and Middle East Programs in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement.

Before joining the Foreign Service, Mr. Meeks was a legislative aide for the Wisconsin State Assembly.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Master’s degree in National Security Studies from the National War College. He is a proud native of Wisconsin, has two daughters, and is married to Erica Meeks, a Speech Pathologist.
