The U.S. Embassy Kathmandu invites you to register for the Next Level Residency Program to be held from March 22 – April 6 in Kathmandu. Interested applicants are requested to register through the Google form below.
Next Level is an international musical and cultural exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and administered by Meridian International Center, in partnership with University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. Jointly Selected by ECA, Meridian, and UNC, talented American hip-hop artists lead two-week residency to teach technical and social skills. The art educators through the workshops promote mutual cultural understanding, conflict resolution, and entrepreneurship skills. Cultural understanding is fostered by the two-way structure of our pedagogy, which promotes the sharing of knowledge, values, and perspectives. Conflict transformation is modeled through group activities that require open discussion, the articulation of assumptions, and collective work towards common goals. Entrepreneurship, so integral to the history and development of Hip Hop, is emphasized through discussions of professionalism, networking, funding, promotion and public relations as they contribute to the goal of establishing successful careers, in addition to the donation of equipment to local partners.
Please apply before March 8, 2020, if you;
- Have experience/interest in Hip Hop dance, beat making, DJing or rapping/MCing
- Can commit 3 hours a day from March 22nd– 6th April 2020 for the workshops
