The Nepal National Transportation Entrepreneurs Federation has called for a citywide strike or bandh in Kathmandu on Thursday 26 May 2016. Confrontations between protesters and motorists could occur, especially at major chowks (intersections). Clashes between protestors and police may occur anywhere within the Kathmandu Valley and greater Nepal.
Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations. Avoid large crowds and gatherings. Use good judgment and common sense when traveling. Please do not attempt to drive through any crowd that you might encounter.
