The American Citizen Services section of the U.S. Embassy Kathmandu is scheduling limited services only—passports, consular records of birth abroad (CRBA), and notaries. Please continue to check this website for additional updates and information. For American citizens in Nepal with emergencies please call: 01-423-4000.
The Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu can assist when a U.S. citizen in Nepal is arrested, missing, a victim of violent crime, becomes ill or dies, or when there is otherwise a need for immediate help. We can assist with information on local resources and by contacting family members in the United States apprised of the circumstances, so that they can make necessary decisions and provide financial and logistical support.
Embassy Services: While routine consular services remain suspended until further notice, the Embassy has implemented U.S. and international health guidelines regarding the opening of facilities and is able to offer limited American Citizen Services. In case of emergency, please reach us through the main Embassy number at 01-423-4000 during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. After hours access to a duty officer for emergencies is provided through the Embassy recorded message at the same number. Alternatively, please write the consular section with your urgent request at email@example.com.
